10 Sample Sale Survival Guide Tips!
I love putting sample sales together…The excitement, the thrill, the PRICES!!!
One of my favorite things is walking into the store on the first day of a Sample Sale early in the morning to make sure everything is in order…This is my Super Bowl!
Sample sales are a great way to get an amazing bridal gown for a fraction of the price. Here’s how it works behind the scenes-stores are required to buy a certain amount of gowns from the manufacturer each year in order to keep their account current, so sample sales are a way for stores to sell wedding dresses to lighten up their inventory. This is where the bride really benefits because you can get an amazing deal AND, you don’t have to wait for your bridal gown to come in. So, sample sales are ideal for brides on a budget and brides that are short on time.
And…sample sales at a boutique are one of the best ways to find a bridal gown that is truly breathtaking as well as something that is good quality and that you won’t see on every other bride. You can plan to save anywhere from 20% all the way up to 80%. This particular sample sale we have most gowns marked around 75% off! This does not happen very often so it is the perfect time to take advantage of a great opportunity!
Here are some tips that I like to call your “Sample Sale Survival Guide”:
1~Always make an appointment.
Sample sales are usually very busy times and you want to make sure you have a dedicated consultant focusing on helping you find the gown of your dreams.
2~Book the earliest appointment available.
Once the gowns are gone, they are…GONE!! You want to get there early for the best selection.
3~Once you find your wedding gown, be sure to look it over and make sure you are completely happy.
Sample sale gowns may have small things that need to be taken care of, maybe a bead is loose, or a stitch needs to be fixed. Most of the things are easy fixes by a seamstress and remember, those little things are what is allowing you to get a steal of a price. At Chamonix Bride, our gowns are in beautiful condition, but it is just something to be aware of so there are no surprises. You are buying the gown “as is”. And in the bridal industry, all sales are final.
4~Bring 1 or 2 friends or family members that you trust.
They will help keep you true to yourself while your consultant helps you bring your vision to life!
5~Try on wedding gowns prior to your sample sale appointment.
This may sound like strange advice, but the reason for this is that it will give you some prior knowledge that you can use to help you decide on a wedding gown at the sample sale. Most likely you will want to buy at the sample sale so you may feel better knowing what else is out there to compare it to. It is ideal to go into a sample sale having an idea of what you like and what styles are most flattering on your figure.
6~Don’t be surprised if you find your bridal gown!
I can’t tell you how many brides are surprised that they find their wedding gown so easily! I am always like, “ This is what we do!! We have an amazing assortment of gowns! That’s our job!” If you find a bridal gown you love, don’t be afraid to make the purchase!
I have had brides in tears at sample sales because they wanted to come back and show a friend or family member a bridal gown they fell in love with and by the time they came back the gown was sold. It is truly heart-breaking.
8~Be Open to trying on a variety of styles.
It really is true that “you never know until you try it on.” It’s definitely great to have an image in mind, but be flexible to trying on different silhouettes as you could be pleasantly surprised. Trust the advice of your consultant and enjoy the process!
9~Make sure the gown can be altered to your size.
Your consultant will discuss what can and can’t be done with you.
10~Don’t forget to have fun and enjoy the process!
I always add this because it is a big part of my outlook on life. You never want to look back and realize you were so serious or so nervous that you missed out on the journey. This is the good stuff!! You are getting MARRIED!!
