FAQ’s

How far in advance should I start looking for my gown? And how far in advance do I really need to order my gown?

Ideally, you should start looking about one year before the wedding. There are a few reasons for this: Bridal gowns are made to order, so you need to leave time for manufacturing and also for alterations once the gown arrives at our store. This is a process that you do not want to rush. It is a time to work together to make your vision a reality and it is a beautiful experience.

How do I know if  a gown is THE gown?

If you feel like the best version of yourself in it, it is probably YOUR gown. You should know because of how you feel in it. It is a myth that you need to go to many stores and try on countless dresses to know that a gown is THE gown. Yes, of course you should try on a variety of silhouettes and styles, but you do not need to make the process an elaborate mission to find something that does not exist. You are not running a marathon here, you are looking for something to express your beauty on your wedding day.  Again, the experience should be one of beauty where you are present to the way each gown makes you feel. Trust yourself.  And enjoy the process…

Who should I bring to my appointment?

I love this question. It is very important in setting the tone for your experience. You should bring one or two people who genuinely care about you. More than that and you tend to have too many opinions and you will create confusion for yourself. You need a small support team of people that love you and give you honest advice and keep you on track to make your vision a reality. This may make you feel uncomfortable or awkward that you can’t bring your favorite Aunt Sally who may be very opinionated. My advice~invite her to a fitting appointment so she can be part of the day without steamrolling you into something that you don’t want. Remember, there are lots of other ways to include family and friends in your big day.

What if I find THE gown on my first time out?

I can’t tell you how many times I had a bride find her gown in my store her first time out and be hesitant to accept that it was that easy!  I find that sad because we have been tricked into thinking that the experience should be difficult, challenging and arduous. The truth is, if you are working with people who are experts in their field, you will find what you are looking for. If you come to our store, be prepared that we will listen to your needs and find you THE gown!

Should I be completely honest with my consultant?

Yes! You should view your consultant as your ambassador, your spokesperson! She is a member of your team and the more information you give her, the more she will be able to help you find what you are looking for. All of the feedback you give your consultant is pieces to the puzzle. It is just as important to know what you don’t like as to know what you do like, so tell us everything.  So, don’t be shy about telling us how you feel, it is all important feedback that will get you closer to finding your gown.
