Tips For Shopping a Sample Sale

When you’re shopping for your wedding gown, it can be difficult to not become overwhelmed by all of the options terms that come along with finding your dream dress.  Mermaid. Trumpet, Fit & Flare. Trunk Show. Sample Sale- they’re not all the same thing?!

As I’m sure you’re finding out they are not.  So we’re helping you break down one of the trickiest sales of all, the Sample Sale, and giving you a few tips to navigate your way through wedding dress sample sales.  Coincidentally, (wink, wink) this Friday 4/14, Saturday 4/15, and Monday 4/17 were having one of our biggest sample sales yet!  Here’s what you should know:

What is a sample sale?

We are constantly turning over inventory and looking for new additions to our “family” of gowns. And yes, they are a family to us…This presents a great opportunity for the price savvy bride. If you are or will be in the market for a gown, you should not miss this sale.

In the bridal world, a sample sale is a magical event! It is a time when we put select gowns from our stock at drastically reduced prices. These are the gowns that have been tried on in the shop.  This creates a chance for YOU, the bride, to capitalize on the moment to find an amazing dress at an even more amazing price. Because every once in a while a gown may have a minor accident of a bead falling off or have an imperfect lining, you benefit with anywhere from 50% and more off!

What to know about a sample sale.

The deals are ridiculously good!  And sometimes that can distract you from a few questions we want you to ask.  So here are a few things to know:

  • The gowns are as is –  That means we can’t make any adjustments to the size or color of the gown.  🙁                       So if you’re sure you are ready to buy during a sample sale, and you have some killer shoes in mind, bring that heel height with you.
  • Sample sizes aren’t all tiny –   Our samples range from a bridal 10 to 24 (street size 6-20).  Let us know when you book your appointment if you’re looking for a specific size range and we’ll make sure to pull what’s going to fit you best!
  • Always remember that sample sale dresses CAN be altered – Slightly marked hems or a piece of frayed lace can easily be trimmed and remedied during your fitting appointments. Gowns  can be sent for cleanings and you should come out of your fittings looking like the dress is new. What a great way to get a new looking dress for less!

What to expect at a sample sale.

With the girls at Chamonix, you will receive the same legendary service whether you are buying a sample or a designer gown. Period. That is just what we believe. Many stores treat sample sales differently, simply because everything is so discounted. We don’t believe in that. Pure and Simple. We treat all of our clients the way they deserve to be treated. And we take time with every bride to ensure we are finding them the dress of their dreams.

That being said you should be prepared to buy when you fall in love.  Unlike orderable gowns, sample sale gowns can’t be reordered.  If you fall in love, it’s likely to be a difficult dress to find- and because of the deals, gowns move quickly and we have no idea who will fall in love with the same gown.

Want a sneak peek at some of the gowns that have been added to the sale?  Here’sa few and head over to Facebook or Instagram for more!  Need to book an appointment?  Call us at 845-876-6999 or Contact us here!
